“Boycott the Windows,” Say The Christians
May 16th, 2005 | by Dr. Forbush |The Religious Right is finally going to succumb to evolutionary pressures; we can only hope. The Religious Right is threatening to boycott Microsoft products.
I think this is wonderful idea. They need to turn off their computers
and bring up Lynix or another OS that is more in line with Christian
Values. If they live by their word and turn off their computers only
the fittest will survive, the Christians who can install another
operating system and get back on line. Maybe this selection of
Christians will be able to follow logic and perhaps the blogosphere
will be salvaged.

Ever hear of Apple Computer? It comes pre-installed with something that ain’t Windows. It probably does come pre-installed with Word for MacIntosh by MicroSoft but that can be easily replaced with WordPerfect and, well, FireFox is, for most purposes, at least, a better product than IE, in my opinion. No, I doubt that no Windows will stop many.
Having said that, I am not a part of the ‘boycot those who give equal rights to gays’ wing of the Christian Right. I do not believe that giving gays the same rights and priviledges as those who are straight currently enjoy will weaken marriage or the family…not anymore damage than that pop singer who got married while drunk on one day and then annulled two days later has done to them…or to society as a whole. I’ve never seen a convincing argument. Barring provable harm, I refuse to deny people privileges and rights that I, myself enjoy.

Holy crap Graig, I agree with you 100%, Awesome! As for Apple, they need to come down a little more in price. It is by far a better operating system than Microsoft but to damn expensive!

Yes, the MacIntosh has always been more expensive, although, I understand that the price gap is tightening. They have always been more inovative, too, in my opinion than any other hardware company. My opinion, anyway.

Actually Craig I was thinking that people didn’t actually want to throw out their computer and buy a new one. But if that’s what they’re willing to do.

Well, a boycott is, by definition, a refusal to buy a company’s products, not, necessarely, not using products already bought and paid for, although there may be those also. It didn’t occur to me to suppose that they would replace current equipment or software until it was time to buy new equipment.

You mean Apple owns an aging rock group?

Craig, that is a refreshing view that not many conservatives share…

Since Apple is located here in California I wouldn’t doubt that they have a similar gay policy, and buying an Apple wouldn’t be the way for the anti-gay Christian to go. Lynux was built by people from all over the world, but some of them might be gay. Not to mention that Intel may have similar policies. I think that gay hating Christians should just boycott all technology to be safe.
Fortunately Craig doesn’t hold these values so we can still argue. ;-}

Well, you may have me there, Doctor. I have no idea what Apple’s politics in regard to gay rights are; I just think that they make a superior product that, unfortunately never faired as well in the market as it’s competitors and so has always lagged behind in the software applications available for it.
Heck, that pencil and paper may come from a gay manufacturer, one can never tell, so it’s back to drawing on cave walls with charred wood that one has burnt oneself…it’s the only way to be 100% sure.
