Religious Groups Getting Quarter of AIDS Funds

January 31st, 2006 | by Paul Merda |

As you may have guests from my postings and comments I don’t think much of religion, I perceive it to cause division among mankind and it’s tiresome dogma does more to harm man than to aid it. I’ll add this article to the list of reasons why I disdain religious practice. One quarter of Federal AIDS funding is going to religious groups. The major problem with this is the moralists are pushing…..wait for it, wait for it…. abstinence and marital fidelity instead of condoms. Yes siree, we know if we know anything that rigid dogma doesn’t change the way people behave. Instead of promoting condoms which actually help prevent AIDS, they are promoting abstinence, a completely unnatural concept. Why can’t these guys work in reality instead of their little ideal universe they have created?

They may as well just give the money to hookers with aids and send them off to go fuck people all over the place.

Yes my liberal friend the neocons are conflicted. In Africa AIDS as I am sure you are aware is predominantly a hetero disease. The Evangelicals want more babies starving and being born with AIDS, what the hell baptize them and it straight to heaven. Remember they eliminated purgatory. They object to the use of condoms, BRILLIANT! Why attempt to decrease the spread of disease? As you said in an earlier post most neocons could give a shit once the baby passes threw the old birth canal. Once born sink or swim. Never mind poverty, malnutrition and illiteracy. Who gives a shit. And if you are a minority they could care even less, fry the bastards, convict them on trumped up charges. As always, LV

Their attitude represents not only a myopic view of the world through ridiculously tinted religious glasses, but also reeks of prejudice, racism, and a complete lack of knowledge about the AIDS virus, human nature, and reality.

This is a prime example of why federal tax dollars should not go to religious based groups, especially when the task is to help people who really need help, not dogma.

Funny how Dear Leader and company say that Global Warming isn’t occuring when evidence backs it up and they refuse to fund things but they fund things that have no evidence of working, like AO sex-ed, the Faith Based intiative and now AIDS.  What a waste of tax dollars….

Yes Ken couldn’t agree more. Giving faith based organizations money to combat STD’s is like telling your kids to refrain from sex, abstinence doesn’t work. The hyper religious want more babies being born. What happens to those babies in life is of no concern. Are you an atheist? LV
