Plan-B and the States
February 27th, 2006 | by Paul Merda |I continue to file anything relating to Plan-B and Birth Control under right-wing nuttery for good reason. The same folks who hate abortion but are OK with retroactive abortions (ya know killing someone in war or supporting the Death Penalty) continue to fight a useful tool for Family Planning, Plan-B Emergency Contraception. What is striking about this battle is that you can tell how supportive of over-the-counter sales a State is going to be just by looking at the how they voted in 2004. That’s right, the “Red States” are more likely to put up barriers to the use and dispensation of Plan-B than the “Blue States”. What should be every woman’s choice is now being decided by State Legslators. Whatever happened to the Conservative Mantra, “He who governs least governs best”? Why do conservatives now think it is a good idea for the Government to get involved in people’s most personal decision, whether or not to have a baby? Hypocrites!

These people are too dense for words. They’re a painful symptom of the education cuts that were started in the 1980s. Or maybe they just don’t know about the birds and the bees. Reduced access to birth control means more abortions. How can anyone not make that simple connection?

Because, as I just posted on my blog, they chant “No big government” but want it to be just big enough to burrow into a woman’s uterus.
Please come and read my post about South Dakota. I think you’ll appreciate it.
