Feb. 19th–Anti-Corruption Week

Not here but in Iraq. That’s our plan folks, I shit you not. The NYTs is reporting today that the week of February 19th will be Anti-Corruption Week in Iraq.

The threat of violence has also deterred many Iraqi journalists from reporting on corruption, despite a campaign by American officials, who have optimistically declared the week starting Feb. 19 to be Anti-corruption Week.

“We have talked to three editors in the past week about anticorruption stories,” said an American official in Baghdad who spoke on the condition of anonymity. “They are afraid of getting whacked if they print them.”

I have an idea, why don’t we adopt the same week as Anti-Republitard week here in the good ole’ U.S of A. They seem to go hand in hand.

Huh I missed this one this morning, just caught it on C&L. Sometimes, I’m not thorough. Then again, in a country that we’ve invested hundreds of billions of dollars in — with billions missing or embezzled — we’re only dedicating ONE FREAKING WEEK to the abolishment of corruption.

What I’m not clear on if this campaign launched by American officials is aimed at Iraqi civilians & government officials OR the American corporations that are already bilking US taxpayers millions of dollars in unprovided services, missing equipment, and stolen goods. Ugh, another example of the pot snookering the kettle and a whole muck of bad governance.
