Cutting Environmental Satellites

March 13th, 2006 | by Paul Merda |

I am not surprised that the GOP lawmakers and Administration are attempting to cut funding to America’s vital environmental satellite systems. After all, it is these same satellites that continue to show global-warming effects of such as shrinking ice sheets (not to mention seven-day weather forecasts, open shipping lanes, icebergs, and so forth). I mean what better way to keep global-warming research from clouding with facts the GOP assertion that humans are having no effect on a warming environment. If you don’t like what the research says, just stop funding it. Brilliant idea really, it is just too bad that my children and grandchildren will be forced to deal with global-warming problems, and blindly, I might add . . . .

Not to mention that getting rid of forecasting satellites would preclude any foreknowledge of Katrina like disasters…so the next time they say “We didn’t know” they won’t have to lie about it. They won’t know because they pulled the plug on the data stream.

Thankfully they don’t control the private satellites in orbit- someone else will be giving us the weather reports- but I think I’ll have my hip-waders on 24/7, because the water keeps rising with these guys.

You have to remember, these are the same friends, who misquote the bible, and hang innocent people. I just wish they would read the book, that they say they believe in, it says to be a steward of the earth, a minister to mankind, and to use your god given talents to rise.
