The GOP’s Great Fear
March 23rd, 2006 | by Paul Merda |What is the GOP’s greatest fear? It’s not rescinding tax-cuts, its sure as hell ain’t deficit spending, it most certainly can’t be Big Government and I don’t think it’s Government intrusion into our personal lives. The GOP’s biggest fear is a question, one that they have refused to answer for 5+ years; “Do you favor overturning Roe v. Wade?” Take a look at what they say when asked about it, take a look at how they equivocate and stem and stammer when asked DIRECTLY, this question. You know why they fear it, becuase their rhetoric does not match reality. Their rhetoric about “supporting a culture of life” is nothing more than a cheap slogan. They will not answer this question because they know they will be marginalized by either the 1/3 that actually supports overturning Roe v. Wade or they will be marginalized by the other 2/3 of the country that does not want to see Roe overturned. It’s tough being a “pro-life” Republican these days, it would be tougher if the Democrats started pushing them to actually answer the question, but maybe I am asking too much of the opposition…
