Ha Ha Ha, the GOP is Screwed!

April 27th, 2006 | by Paul Merda |

Screwed I say! That’s not according to my analysis, it’s according to John Dickerson of Slate. The GOP is divided over issues such as immigration (I say we keep doing what we are doing, but I digress) and the fiscal conservatives are ticked off at the GOP for its run-away spending habits. While so many of the military families support the Iraq War, many are getting fed up with multiple deployments that will likely keep them at home in November. Screwed indeed, let’s see if the GOP loses enough seats to change the direction this country has been going in. Let’s see if the downward spiral can be reversed in November . . .

George Bush is not the only one responsible for his party’s condition. Faced with the Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal, the GOP Congress missed its chance to enact any serious lobbying reform or change the practice of budget “earmarks.” Republicans were sent to Washington to change it but have become co-opted by it. Even if Bush wanted to suddenly become a fierce budget hawk, Republicans in Congress wouldn’t go along. Congress has expanded federal spending by 45 percent since 2001 with expansive agriculture, education, energy, and highway bills. It has resisted Bush’s spending cuts in this election year and plan to lard as much as $20 billion onto Bush’s $92 billion request for Iraq funding. Included in that grab is funding for the “railroad to nowhere,” the requisite transportation pork that, like the “bridge to nowhere,” seems the perfect metaphor for the directionless GOP.

Heh… got that right.  This is great news indeed, but it’s not over yet…

The Democrats are screwed too if a strong third party candidate who favored tough border security were to emerge… according to the latest Rasmussen Poll results.  Number one priority is to topple the RepubliCONS out of office, and the Dems along with ‘em if they are going to keep on insisting upon being in the pockets of the huge corporations, which they are right now, just not as badly as the RepubliCONS are.

If the Dems want me to stop picking on ‘em, then they can start representing ME again - an average American who busts his ass for a meager living in the heart of Dixie under an oligarchy.  As long as they insist upon ignoring me and supporting this oligarchy Government of the corporations, by the corporations and FOR the corporations, I’ll be cheerfully working toward their departure from our Government, too.

But I have to admit, the Dems are MUCH more desirable than the damned Reps right now.
