Senate Bill Cuts Funding for Body Armor . . . .
April 21st, 2006 | by Paul Merda |Yes sir, further proving that “Support the Troops” is nothing more than an empty slogan to the GOP, the Senate has voted to reduce funding for combat vehicles and body armor in Iraq while redistributing the money to a very expensive weapons system, the V-22 Osprey and other non-related items. How quaint!
“They’ve hijacked the bill to spend money on their toys,” said Steve Ellis of Taxpayers for Common Sense, a budget watchdog group. “You have the V-22, which isn’t even ready for fielding and it’s getting money in the supplemental.”
The V-22 is but one example of the Pentagon and lawmakers using the mammoth bill to skirt limits on the already rapidly growing defense budget.
Support the troops, my ass . . . .
