Baghdad Burning
June 26th, 2006 | by Ken Grandlund |The president and his minions insist that all is going well in Iraq. (Despite contrary news from their own people on the ground)
The Republican controlled congress insists we stay the course. (Despite the fact nearly $300 billion has been spent and over 2500 US soldiers have died.)
Faux News, Rush Limbaugh, and the other bloated air-wave jockey’s call anyone who disagree’s with these assessments traitors and cowards. (Despite the fact that most of them have never donned a uniform or had an original idea in their lives.)
And we citizen pundits on the progressive left engage in verbal sparring with the citizen pundits on the regressive right over what is really happening. (Despite the fact that most of us have little other than heresay and supposition to guide our points of view.)
So every now and then, I wander over to Baghdad Burning for some information about Iraq from someone who has endured this war at the front lines.
I’m sure most readers here have heard of Baghdad Burning, the “girl blog from Iraq,” but for those of you who haven’t, she provides a personal perspective of Bush’s illegal war that you won’t get on the TV, radio, in print or from the soldiers themselves. Her’s is a view of an Iraqi, a moderate Iraqi at that, not blinded by religious hatred or political rhetoric. She could easily be any one of us, save for the fortunes of birth.
When you’re tired of political pandering and TV blowhards, and just want some information about day to day life from an Iraqi citizen, check out Baghdad Burning. Her posts are sporadic, kind of like the electricity in Iraq, but well worth the wait.

4High dividend ETFs have lagged the market, especially popular DVY. This may be the best
argument yet for owning high dividend ETFs as they appear likely to cushion an equities fall
