A dog, a few cats, and a little H3
June 27th, 2006 | by steve |Meet Flea. Flea is 4 years old. We got Flea from the SPCA when our little kitty Spike died because of a shunted liver. Flea is a big, fat, mean, slob of a cat. He tears up new furniture, eats all the food, and chases every cat in the house. But best of all, Flea keeps us warm on cold winter nights with his big fluffy fur. Flea is cuddly and is really not all bad… just a little bad.
Meet Jack. Jack is going on 7 years now and has been with us for just about 6. When at the SPCA, he was half the cat he is now. He was 1/4 of his weight. Both front legs were broken. He is missing teeth. The story on Jack is, he went on an adventure and was run over by a car. Someone found him and dumped him in the stray chute at the local pound. He was found by some UC Davis students and sent off for repair. While on the road to recovery he was put up for adoption. He found us and has never tried to leave. Jack waits at the door when I get home from work, when he heres me pull up. He sleeps at my feet every night. I have seen the man leap seven vertical feet. This cat is the shit. I love this picture because of the colors of our home and the colors of his fur. He is always this warm and fun to be around.
Meet Trisha. Trisha is going on 6 years now. She was found by my wife at the SPCA. Trisha was an unwed mother that was dumped at the SPCA where she had some puppies. Her puppies all found good homes and lucky for her, so did she. She is always this mellow, loves children and continues to live the perfect life at our home.
This is the back seat of the Hummer, taken 20 or so minutes ago. It contains boxes of books, new and used clothes, dishes and appliances, some of which are left over wedding gifts that will not be used. There are also a couple of TV’s, a set of old golf clubs and some old tools. These aren’t going to some landfill or dump. These are going to be donated to the SPCA Thrift Shop. We unfortunately with three pets above and the other two cats, one quietly featured at Steve’s Blog, can’t take anymore pets. What we like to do when we can is donate our old stuff to the SPCA throughout the year. SPCA uses the profit it makes from selling these items to make sure a few more dogs and cats can find homes as good as ours to live their full and deserving lives. Here’s to actually using a vehicle this big!
As GTL would say, blog on brother…

The worth of a society is how it treats it’s animals. As a long time supporter of pound puppies, I can proudly say ” well done” to you, don’t stop.

OK..you got me on the animals steve. Your a fine human being when it comes to animals. I have rescued 9 to date and my husband swears he will divorce me if I bring another one home. I always promise to find them a good home….and he never lets me,he gets attached to them. I even had a guy in Beverly Hills want one of my kittens and my ball and chain flat out refused saying they wouldn’t love them as much as we do..how could I argue that logic? :p
I do see you in a different light now..thanks for this post and those cute pics
