Embryonic Stem Cell Research is Murder!

July 26th, 2006 | by Jersey McJones |

Tony “Snow-Job” Snow, continuing his long career as Bush spokesman/right wingnut, retracted a recent comment in which he inferred that the president believes embryonic stem cell research is akin to murder.

It was Snowing last Tuesday!

Snow on Tuesday, July 18, “The president believes strongly that for the purpose of research it’s inappropriate for the federal government to finance something that many people consider murder… He’s one of them. The simple answer is he thinks murder is wrong.”

All clear skies on Monday!

Snow on Monday, July 24, “I will go ahead and apologize for having overstated, I guess, overstated the president’s position.”

At least we now know for sure that the President thinks murder is wrong, anyways.

The only question that remains - What the heck does he think murder is?

Here’s a simple comparison:

Embryonic Stem Cell research:

I am with you Jersey. An imbecile like Bush wouln’t know a murder involves a sentient being and not a few cells that will be discarded anyway. It continues to elude me how people do not recognize the difference betweed an embryonic cell and a living breathing human. If the fundies truly cared about life they would be against the death penalty. If neocons cared they would assist in over riding Generalisimo Bush’s veto.  Republican neo cons could give a shit once you’re born find a job you loosers. Your baby is starving go to work. Fuck em all, scum bags religious fanatics. LV

I essentially agree with both of your posts, though not terribly religious, I would not go so far as call all relegious people scumbags.  As we begin to push the definition of life further and further back to fertilization of an egg, in my mind it opens a number of issues that I do not think society is ready for.  Child protection laws would have to be modified to protect any fetus in any womb, artifical or not.  Now we are talking about the government getting intrusive.  If your pregnant at any level, anything that you do to your body that could hurttthe fetus would then be subject to abuse investigations.  Do we have the resources to hospitalize or jail women for drug use, drinking etc. that would keep them from harming the baby.  Seems like a slippery slope to me.

I only refer to fanatical zealots or godbots as I call them as scum bags. I do this because they would impose their wills on me and other free thinkers. These scum need to stay out of my business. LV

Thanks guys.  I can’t for the life of me understand the whole “pro-life” bunch.  They’re just being suckered by a non-issue, I suppose.

You know - it goes like this:  GOP pol says, “I believe in God.  You believe in God.  God hates Abortion.  You and I hate abortion.  I like tax cuts for the wealthy.  God and you like tax cuts for the wealthy.”

It’s the same ol’ bait ‘n switch.  The CON game.  ;)

    Your clarification is duly noted.

Jersey..I love this post. Thanks for putting it up. The religious fundi’s will defend a fetus or embryo but not a human out of the womb it seems. The children of Lebanon should get their support, but they don’t. The children that live in abusive homes should get their support, but again, they do not.

Its ok to kill a 10 year old civilian..just don’t mess with embryo’s.

Doesn’t make sense to me, but I am not a fundi.

Delusional liberals: life begins at conception. It really is that simple.

Now someone like Andrea Yates, SHE deserves the death penalty. The death penalty enforcers in the prison should hold her head under water until she is dead.  Like she did to her kids!

if life begins at conception and Bush is right, Sandy, then they should work toward ending ALL research and medical science including in-vitro.

if Bush thinks this is murder, he should procecute anyone involved.
