Germans to Bush: Halten Sie Snoopin

August 26th, 2006 | by Omnipotent Poobah |

While the jury is still out on the Bush administration’s financial records spying in the US, the German state of Schlewsig-Holstein says the snooping violates German and European data protection laws.

The German position sees the transfer of financial information to US data centers has no legal basis and the hand-over to US authorities is also illegal because of the lack of data protection safeguards in the US.

    Upin,

Um, I think you’ve confused your snooping scandals. This post is about the financial records spying. The telephone tapping scandal is a different one, although I can see how they’re easy to confuse. Lot’s of that going around these days.
