Bring It On!

Ken Mehlman Desperation Alert

September 18th, 2006 | by Jersey McJones |

Dear Jersey,
Everything is on the line.

Oh no! Not EVERYTHING!!!

It’s more than just the House, the Senate, and 36 governorships. It’s whether the President’s efforts to keep Americans safe will grind to a halt with Democrats in control of funding every aspect of the War on Terror… whether Democrats will be allowed to carry out their threat to raise your taxes by $2.4 trillion… whether Democrats will get their wish of investigating - and maybe even impeaching - our President.

Raise MY taxes? Er, uh, Kenny Boy - I think they mean ‘raise YOUR taxes’… And when you say “the President’s efforts to keep Americans safe will grind to a halt…,” exactlly what “efforts” are you referring to? Because I haven’t seen any “efforts” at all.

As for impeachment, I doubt they’ll do it. But Lord knows I wish they would! (I take that back. I hope they don’t. It would set a great example for the Dems if they could be the bigger men and refrain from getting even with Bush. That and an utterly lame duck Bush would be fun enough - and wouldn’t make much difference no matter how you foresee it) .

“With so much at stake, the Republican National Committee will hold nothing back in this fight. This week, I made the decision that the RNC will spend whatever it takes - $60 million or more, the RNC’s entire budget - to maintain our majorities. We are within sight of meeting this ambitious financial goal - but we aren’t there yet.”

They already have 60 million, thanks to the deep pockets of the Corporatocracy. You all have the system rigged pretty well. It’s so sad, though, that you have to raise 60 million to counter the Dems. Could it be that your message is a steaming pile of feces and the only way to sell it is with lots and lots of money? Naaahhh - it couldn’t be that, right?

Will you put us in position to win by donating $250, $100, $50, or even $25 to the RNC’s Emergency Fund?

When hell freezes over and my ass sprouts lillies.

Jersey, we are facing the brutal reality that we will be outspent in this tough fight. The Democrats, their special interest union allies, and angry left-wing groups like MoveOn.org plan to spend more than $120 million in their desperate bid to make Nancy Pelosi the next Speaker of the House. With the clock ticking to Election Day, we still need your support to stop that from happening.

Hmmm… Here’s from the AP the other day:

(AP) Republicans trying to hold onto the House raised $12.5 million in July, outpacing Democrats by a 3-to-1 margin but leaving the GOP just $1 million ahead in cash on hand.

The influx of money _ largely from political action committees _ gives Republicans a slight advantage more than two months before the November elections. Democrats hope to gain 15 seats to seize control of the House.

The NRCC has raised $70 million so far and has $34.1 million in the bank. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee raised $4.2 million in July, taking the group’s total to $81 million this cycle and $33 million cash on hand.

In the Senate, the Democrats’ campaign organization enjoys a $14.5 million advantage in cash on hand. The party needs to gain six seats to win majority control.

The DSCC raised $4.2 million during July, outpacing its GOP counterpart’s $3.3 million. It also raised $77.2 million so far this cycle and has $35.1 million in the bank.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee has raised $65.9 million this cycle and has $20.6 million on hand.

(emphasis mine)

Looks like the special interests are in your bank, Kenny Boy. Anywway, back to the Letter of Desperation…

A commitment like this is unprecedented in politics. The Hill newspaper calls it “a record for a national party committee in a midterm election.”

http://www.GOP.com/EmergencyFund06/

Why are we staking everything on this extraordinary effort? Because we know that the plan works. Recently, National Journal’s Hotline wrote that the RNC’s get-out-the-vote program works to “expand the universe” of Republican voters, and “surpassed expectations.”

We also know that when Americans hear our message, they rally to our cause. We saw it in 2002, we saw it in 2004, and we’re seeing it again in 2006. An ABC News poll out this week shows that voters trust Republicans more on the issues, and a flurry of recent polls shows Republicans moving up in the battle for control of Congress, confirming that this will be another tough, close election.

This forward momentum can only continue with your help.

Good, then it won’t continue (I wish). Of course it will be tough and close! You’ve gerrymandered the whole friggin’ map! And that it will be tough and close shows just how lousy your message is - because with a map like that, it shouldn’t even be a contest!

http://www.GOP.com/EmergencyFund06/

With a fight this tough and angry Democrats so emboldened to take power, your Party won’t leave anything on the field. We are committing everything to this fight. Will you join in this unprecedented effort?

Sincerely,

Ken Mehlman
Chairman, Republican National Committee

Unprecendented? Naaahhh… It’s quite precedented, and quite expected.

Done.  It’s not much but $50 has just gone to the Democratic National Committee.  I’ll also be donating more to local candidates.  Hopefully others can spare more but in any event as cliche’ as it is, every penny counts!

That’s right, LC.  As long we we live in a society that considers money to be speech, we have to speak with our wallets - it’e either that, or the Corporate Interests will be the only voices heard.

George W Bush may be a “lame duck”. He also appears to be a war criminal, along with most of his cabinet, and as such, not only deserves to be impeached, but also given the full punishment meted out to convicted traitors against our government. If GW was complicit in the Lies of 9/11, and complicit in lying to Congress to engage in illegal pre-emptive war against another country, then I don’t care how much time he has left on his current “office”, he needs to answer to what he has done, both to this country and to the people of Iraq.

Assuming your vote actually gets counted, there are two good reasons to do so:

    1) to remove the WAR PARTY from power.

(BTW, putting a “democrat” in office will not accomplish this. Look to see how many “democrats” voted FOR WAR.)

    2) to place individuals in office that answer to AMERICA FIRST, not some foreign power

First, of course, you’ll have to gain control of your ballot.

The RNC would have you believe this is a “republican vs democrat” argument.  That serves them, trust me…

Good thoughts but I will point out that flawed as the intelligence turned out to be, the facts presented were such that it looked like justification could at least be squeezed out of our intention.  Of course, we failed to look both ways before crossing the boundary to war and everyone was bit in the ass.  I firmly believe Bush is a criminal and I firmly believe the Republican Party, by trying to change the surviellance laws, are trying to keep him from jail

A change of power from Republican to Democrat will not cure all of our problems, particularly if we find ourselves with a reasonably balanced Congress and Senate which does nothing more than butt heads and reach no further than constant stalemates.  Decisions need to be made, directions need to be changed and progress in the proper direction needs to happen!

Getting our nation back from the GOP.   Priceless.  Impeaching Bush  at the same time would be great , just as long as we impeached Cheney too. Oh by the way Ken he’s not my President he’s yours. Mine actually won in 2000 he just got cheated out of the job by the Supreme Court.

I detest him, but Ken Mehlman is extremely effective. You can bet the poll numbers are going to close in the next six weeks. We have to keep fighting, and the Democrats need to find a message (get that? A message) and stick to it. That is one of the Republicans strongest traits, they usually STAY ON POINT.
