Colin Powell on the Attack
September 19th, 2006 | by Paul Merda |I guess a guy can only take so much blame and have his good name run through the muck for so long. For some reason it took up until now for Colin Powell to express his regrets and perhaps even outrage over such recent American Icons as “extraordinary renditions”, Gitmo, “extreme interrogations” and “clarification” of the Geneva Conventions. I would be fairly pissed off if my boss got me to lie in front of the world, it’s a shame that it took him so long to respond but I guess the timing is right, right before the election… Colin?
“The world is beginning to doubt the moral basis of our fight against terrorism.”
Beginning to doubt, I think the World has doubted the moral basis ever since we invaded Iraq… This is fun though, watching the GOP implode a mere 7 weeks before the election.

In your opinion, what is the moral basis of our fight against terrorism?

I certainly think we have a right to defend ourselves against people who would harm us, but I suppose that’s the same argument the “terrorists” make. I don’t think that Dear Leader has executed the War on Terror properly and Iraq was a giant mistake which took us away from our more noble quest of fighting Al-Qaeda type terrorism. Dear Leader has made one collosal mistake after another in the execution of the War on Terror, undermining our good standing around the world and making more people who want to kill Americans instead of reducing those numbers. Anyway:
Moral Basis - everyone has a right to defend themselves against physical harm.

Just to add to what Paul said. We left Afghanistan and now the Taliban is quickly gaining strength again, Osama is soaking up the last rays of sunshine in some remote section of the Afghan Pakistan border, laughing at the US. I ask myself what have we accomplished, 3,000 dead Americans and tens of thousands of dead Iraqis and Afghans. Cheney the fool continues to insult and belittle those of us opposed to the war in Iraq. Bin Bush is adamant the ends will justify the means, got torture? Lets defend the US and stop Policing the world. LV

The fact that you put quotes around the word terrorists shows you aren’t any kind of serious thinker. That and the stupid name-calling. It is people like you who would have lost us WWII.
What’s funny is how childish you sound, with the childishness of the dolts who ran Larry Summers out of Harvard, and the childish morons that are protesting Pope Benedict for daring to use reason in trying to get a dialogue with those who adhere to the “religion of peace” (yes, that’s snarky).
