9th Circuit Court: Sure Let’s Set Everyone Free Who Is On Drugs!!!

Read this.

Okay… so you pass the bong to your 2 year old kid and say, “Dude, hit this.”

And you get five years in prison but the 9th Circuit Court let’s you out over some formality and “Boom!” Free after two years. Formalities?!? Passing your bong to your toddler because it made her “mellow and lathargic” and you only get 5, reduced to two because it was a formality? As a parent of a newborn, trust me… you think about crunching up 1/8 of a sleeping pill and dilluting it in a bottle at 3 AM for the baby but you don’t fucking do it!!!

So I bet they give her kid back to her as well… Sweet!!! It’s what we need in this world, more bad parenting.

Off to hug Elijah…

OK steve..I totally agree that the mother is a piece of batshit. The sentence was harsher than what what the law allows plus harsher than given to people that commit similar heinous crimes however. So, what are you going to do? Up the sentences for other crimes to make them all relative? Cuz I don’t have the answer on this one as to the sentencing requirements.

2 years is enough, Steve.  Prison is a terrible, terrible place.  And yes, of course she should lose custody of the child, and I’m she she has.

And this goes to show - the state does have a vested interest in making sure kids are cared for - public schools, police and child welfare institutions perform this function which is why we should be careful of the notion that these things are unnecessary or “mommy state”-ish.

What the hell does that have to do with what the mom did?  Smart people do drugs too?  Are you implying that only dumb, uncared for people do drugs?

I’m saying that responsible and accountable social institutions help to mitigate that sort of abuse.  And when one fails, the other backs the kids up.  In a conservative world, where Nazi Social Darwinism rules and the poor have to fend for themselves like wild animals, there would be social institutions for the kids.  Just abuse.
