A Bit of British Lunacy
September 24th, 2006 | by Craig R. Harmon |Police to brief Muslims before terror raids - Sunday Times - Times Online.
That’s right. Before mounting any more anti-terror raids, the police will consult with Muslims, share with them the evidence upon which the raid would be mounted, and find out from them whether THEY, the Muslims, think the evidence is too flimsy to act.
The Muslims for the consultations will be carefully chosen, presumably to omit any of the many radical imams who routinely preach jihad against the west in cluding Britain but who knows? Maybe it’s to be sure that the radical elements aren’t left out of the decision-making.
They will have to promise — scouts honor — not to reveal any intelligence that they are shown but will not have to sign the Official Secrets Act, whatever that means. Does that mean that if, well, you know how slips of the tongue are, one of them DOES happen to let it slip to the terrorist cell members plotting the next bus bombing that they might be about to be visited by the bobbies that he wouldn’t be prosecuted for his slip of the tongue? Exactly how trusting are the Brits, anyway?
Apparently they haven’t yet decided if they should share every last bit of intelligence that they have with this pannel of Muslims:
This week the Association of Chief Police Officers will discuss with MI5 and the Home Office whether to reveal to the panel intelligence information from the security service.
Hell, why not just publish it in the Times of London…that’s what we do with intelligence here. Different Times, of course, but same idea. Apparently nobody in the intelligence agencies believes in secrets any longer.
And can sombody explain to me why this Abu Azzadeen isn’t a box of bones already?
It has now emerged that Izzadeen apparently urged Muslims to wage holy war in Britain in an internet video downloaded by several thousand users from websites that closed down two months ago. The sites were linked to the Saved Sect, of which Izzadeen was leader and which has now been banned and disbanded.
In the video he told his audience: “In the UK no fighting takes place yet, but don’t be fooled, the time will come to you brothers . . . fighting is so close at hand.”
He adds: “You prepare yourself now and when the hard time comes you are ready to defend yourself; you are ready to die for the sake of Allah.”
Just wondering…

Actually, that sounds smart. Working with the mainstream muslim community will help the efforts against terror, working without or against them will only make the job harder. After all, last time, it was the muslim community that came to the police with the latest plot.
