An excellent end to a truly stupid idea

November 20th, 2006 | by Craig R. Harmon |

O.J. Simpson Book, TV Special Canceled.

“If I Did It”, O. J. Simpson’s book wherein he apparently discusses how he “would have” killed his ex-wife, Nicole Brown, and her friend, Ron Goldman “if he had done so” and a companion tv interview special on Fox News Channel have both been canceled.

O. J. has the right to say and write anything he wants to and any publishing house and tv station that thinks they can make a net profit off of publishing his book and airing an exclusive interview is free to go for it. Apparently, Rupert Murdoch thought that was the case but he found out that the repercussions of giving that kind of publicity to the man who was found guilty in civil court of the wrongful deaths of two persons would outweigh the profit-margin.

Rupert has now apologized.

That and he realized that there were legal implications (having to do with a shadowy middle man handling the profits whilst OJ has hardly paid a dime on his civil penalty) and Fox took a lot of heat for it in the middle of a dismal fall season.  People are turning off Fox - and not just Fox News - because they are voting againt the GOP (re:Fox) with their remotes.

Murdoch also had the nads to attempt to grease the palms of the Goldmans and Nicole’s family to keep them from bitching too much.
