Army Urging Dead Soldiers Back Into Service

January 6th, 2007 | by Ken Grandlund |

Army officials will apologize to family members of dead or wounded former military members who received letters urging them back to duty, according to an AP report.

The letters, sent just after Christmas, were mailed to more than 5000 officers who have recently left the service urging them to come back. The problem though is nearly 75 of those officers who received the missive were killed in action and another 200 or so were wounded in action.

I know that the military is having trouble meeting recruiting goals. I know that Bush want to send more troops back into Iraq. But c’mon…

How can they be so cruel? They don’t even know why they died or who they are.
    Patriotic Government I’ed say!!
The parents of these men must be shocked and mortified as they obviously died for nothing.

They kinda jumped the gun on DARPA’s army-of-zombies program, eh?

Maybe Bushco is now keeping the records of those KIA and WIA secret now too, so no one knows who’s dead or alive or legless…

much as I would love to take  a dig right now… this is what we call a SNAFU.  and it is absolutely normal for the services.  they forget, they screw up, they are bureaucratic dunderheads.  It’s not malicious, just dumb.  And the families won’t forgive or forget, but they understand how it was possible.  if you have been around the services a while, you unfortunately get used to it!  And each person who screwed up, and left that name on the list, feels terrible about it, they regret it and would do anything to take it back.
