Another 2200 Troops To Iraq- That’s In Addition to the “Surge”
March 8th, 2007 | by Ken Grandlund |The Pentagon yesterday approved an additional 2200 US troops for Baghdad, mostly military police, to be used for support in the new Baghdad security drive, aka The Surge. That is on top of the 21,000 troops approved by Bush and the other 27,000 troops needed to support the originally stated 21,000.
The additional troops were requested by Gen. Petraeus because he says that Iraqi’s still aren’t dealilng with the sectarian violence.
Excuse me…but I thought that the increase in US troops was tied to increases in Iraqi capabilities. This sounds like we’re doing all the heavy lifting and they are sitting around wondering when to attack each other.
The president said the Surge would be limited and temporary- increasing the number of troops from 21,000 to 50,000 in just over a month is neither limited nor likely to be temporary.
Maybe he’s just making up for the troops that are leaving- you know, the British and the other “coalition of the willing” players.
What a lying bastard we have for a president.

It’s not part of the surge, it’s after surge. It’s like a spurt…
