Bring It On!

Mea Culpa Sorta

April 11th, 2007 | by Omnipotent Poobah |

My Monday post was about the lack of a coherent energy policy in the US. At the end of the post, I used a story about Bush almost immolating himself by plugging electrical power into a hydrogen tank on a hybrid car as a metaphor for just how poor his policy making skills are. The Detroit News story quoted the CEO of Ford Motor Company, Alan Mulally for the details.

It turns out that Mulally apparently made the whole story up and the fabrication was immediately clear in a videotape of the event released after the post. Apparently his 4-month $39.1 million salary wasn’t enough of a tall tale by itself and he needed to add “saving the leader of the free world from firey death” to his resume.

I try to provide correct information in my posts, but occasionally something like this happens. When it does, I like to correct the record and hold myself accountable. I think it’s only fair after the rants I sometimes unleash on others who don’t correct theirs.

So, mea culpa and Alan Mulally, you’re a lying crapweasel who should return the $39.1 million back to Ford as penance .

Everyone can carry on now.

Good man for correcting the record. It builds your credibility.

I wonder if Mulally did this “on purpose” to discredit that technology…

By the way, do you have a link to a source saying he made the story up? Where’d you get this?
