Bring It On!

Fred Thompson?

May 30th, 2007 | by Jersey McJones |

Republican voters, not being the savviest of citizens, are easily drawn to celebrity. In 1980 and 2000, the GOP base, along with “swing” voters who swing which ever way the wind blows, successfully inserted these two inept clowns into the Oval Office.

Fame, even if earned only by playing roles for the camera, seems to be about enough to get nominated for the presidency for the Republicans. So it should come as no surprise that Law & Order actor Fred Thompson seems destined to run for the nomination. Never mind that he dropped out of the Senate because he just couldn’t be bothered. Never mind that he voted not to convict Clinton during the impeachment fiasco. Never mind that he backed Lamar Alexander and John McCain for the presidency. Never mind that Thompson voted for McCain/Feingold. Never mind his Hollywood connections. He’s famous, God dammit!!!

His “conservative” credentials are limited at best. And should he ever get into the White House, he probably wouldn’t be very sympathetic to the Far Right. But conservatives, a rather petty bunch, tend to be more concerned with “winning” than accomplishing. We shall see…

You obviously don’t pay attention to the right. This guy could be our shot, if we have a shot at all.

If he runs, I’ll vote for him. If he doesn’t I’ll vote for Guiliani.

Shows you what kind of mixed up world I live in.

    Any takers?

He may be your “shot,” steve, but don’t be surprised if he’s a lot less conservative than you may like. Same goes for Guiliani. You may have a couple of sheep in wolve’s clothing here. Not that I’d personally complain much about that…

Speaking for myself I would still rather have a republican that isn’t all that conservative than a democrat that is all too liberal.

Jersey which “savvy” democrat are you backing?

Fred Thompson will have Richard Belzer as his Vice President, Ice-T as his Secretary of Defense and S. Epatha Merkerson is the new Condoleeza Rice in the roll of Secretary of State. And the new Presidential theme- “Doink-Doink”

Every week the new administration will investigate the death of some attractive young female intern who was found naked in a dumpster behind the Capitol building. Presidential ratings will skyrocket.

Hey I’m just happy that we don’t have an actor from NYPD Blue running for office. Could you imagine the press conferences? I suspect that we’d be occaisionally subject to view Dennis Franz’s naked ass for some reason.
