Bring It On!

The Tank Man (aka The Unknown Rebel)

June 3rd, 2008 | by Steve O |

On this day in 1989 the PLA entered Tiananmen Square to force protesters out of the square.

This photo was taken on June 5th and little is known about what happened to this man. Some say he was executed days after this incident took place others say he is currently living in Taiwan. Time Magazine later named this man one of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century.

Lets hope it never comes to this in the United States.

Thanks for reminding me of this very important event. I have a large framed poster of the photo and consider it one of my favorite photos of all time. The raw naked courage of the human spirit is an amazing feature of some individuals. At that time in China you could not only get a serious ass beating, but generally this was considered a capital crime punished with unthinkable methods of justice. The protester represents every man, and the fact that it occurred in China is of only general interest. Many instances of such mythological courage has been captured by artist in paintings, but an actual documented photo is rare. Thanks again.

Yeah, although I cannot imagine what was going through this guys head and I too could stare at this pictures for hours wondering.

I often feel this ressembles what we are up against with this administration.
