Quote of the Day 6/11/08
June 11th, 2008 | by Paul Merda |Sphere: Related Content“The most ridiculous concept ever perpetrated by Homo sapiens is that the Lord God of Creation, Shaper and Ruler of the Universes, wants the saccharine adoration of his creations, that he can be persuaded by their prayers, and becomes petulant if he does not receive this flattery. Yet this ridiculous notion, without one real shred of evidence to bolster it, has gone on to found one of the oldest, largest and least productive industries in history.” - Robert A. Heinlein

Damn, this has turned into an atheist site. I am an agnostic. Why? Because if someone shows me some real evidence of God I will believe it. ” Just havn’t seen any yet. “least productive industries in history.” Not sure i agree. Try this quote. “The road that is built in hope is more pleasant to the traveler than the road built in despair, even though they both lead to the same destination.” ~Marian Zimmer Bradley

I would not go so far as to say this is an athiest site. I like to put the religion crap out there because:
1) I think religion is the worst idea humans have ever come up with.
2) The GOP has hijacked christianity and turned it into some sort of joke in the process.
3) Religion and Politics do not mix well.
I have heard it said and I agree that “a religion is a cult with political power.”

Okay, I’ll try this again….I didn’t see the addition, or did I do it wrong?
Religion was created; I know! I do know people of power….real power….believe, or not. During the days when most were pagans their belief system was different than ours. They felt that life was sacred as long as it flurished freely. When the Power Brokers/Slave Masters….that are still around today; started having problems with their captive slaves killing themselves, they created religion as we know it. The mass suicides stopped. The Pagans that wouldn’t convert were executed; see they felt life that flurished free was sacred, but when controlled was not worth being. The rest of the story is basically known. Most wars are caused by these same Power Broker’s taking their select sect/cult, and pitting it against another!

We can all agree religion has caused much harm. Agnostics and atheist have far more in common with each other than with any religion. The Iraq war and the genocide in Darfur are linked to religion. Many ceremonies are based on paganism and monotheism does not exist if I were an angel would I not be a god? Religion and nationalism are the opiate of the masses. LV
