Steve O,
guess you got to be young to put up with the NOISE. I’m sure the lyrics are profound, but damn it sure is loud. forgive my sensitivity. You know, you need to listen to a little Bach.

Actually Rube… Of all rock bands out there, Green Day is closest to Bach and other Baroque composers.
Case in point, the opening chord progression to their 1994 hit Basketcase is a similar progression as Pachelbel’s Canon in D
Proof?:
Canon in D
Basketcase
But that is me, I recognize that kind of shit…

Green Day has probably the closest composing style to Baroque period music.
Proof?
Their hit: Basketcase
And Pachelbel’s Canon in D.
Opening chord progression of Basketcase is nearly the same as Canon in D. Green Day’s is actually in E flat but the chords are the same for the most part. I was bored back in college and brought this up to a hip Music Theory professor when the song came out. But it is also how I related and got through music school.
