August 10th, 2008 | by Steve O |Obama has Kenyan citizenship as well as US citizenship. I wonder how the clingy, bible thumpin’, shotgun pumpin’, outhouse dumpin’, crowd in flyover country would respond to this gem.
Obama Ad Attacks McCain on Yucca Mountain.
McCain’s pass on adultery: the real double standard. It will be interesting to see if any enterprising reporter asks John McCain point blank: “Have you ever committed adultery?”
Georgia-Russia Clash: American Culpability and the Kosovo Connection. My own view is that the U.S. has displayed a reckless disregard for Russian interests for some time. I don’t like Russia’s swing to greater domestic authoritarianism and worry about its stiffened posture on a number of international fronts — but Simes convinces me in his important Foreign Affairs essay, “Losing Russia,” that much of what we are seeing unfold between Russia and Georgia involves a high quotient of American culpability.
McCain Considers Lieberman for Veep. Joe Lieberman, the former Democratic vice-presidential nominee who has endorsed John McCain, is being vetted as a potential running mate for the Republican presidential hopeful, according to an adviser to Mr McCain’s campaign.
The scariest thing I can think of–Do I even have to write this piece after putting those two pictures side by side. W looked into Putin’s eyes and saw his own weakness, Obama would look in those eyes and wet himself.

I thought McCain’s adultery was one of those known knowns, no? I read he admitted to breaking up his first marriage. I guess that’s not necessarily the same as admitting to having had an affair but I think that was the point of his comment. Also, my wife long ago mentioned that she was aware that he had been a philanderer. I really don’t think it’s any big secret. Why would reporters bother asking McCain something that’s long been known and, frankly, already as much as admitted?

The Wikipedia article on John McCain has this to say:
It references Timberg’s, American Odyssey, pages 123–124 and this article from The Arizona Republic of March 1, 2007. So then, the question’s already been asked and answered long ago.

I guess, when one just frankly comes out and admits to one’s adultery, it becomes a non issue mostly. When, as was the case with John Edwards, one has long and repeatedly denied one’s adultery and it gets reported with sufficient proof that one is finally forced to admit not only that one cheated on his wife but repeatedly lied about it to the public (shades of Bill Clinton), it becomes news.
Although, to me, eh, who cares. Certainly not me. I’d never vote for Edwards but it has nothing to do with marital infidelities.

I haven’t found a hardback volume of the Timberg book but I’ve found paperback’s published in 1999. I guess I assume there was a hardback version earlier than that but since I haven’t found it, I can’t say for sure. It’s just that books don’t ordinarily come out in Paperback before a hardback version. Point is, McCain’s infidelities have been public knowledge since at least 1999 and possibly before that.
