Which kitchen table will McMansion sit at tonight?
August 23rd, 2008 | by Steve O |Little late on this but Joe Biden came out swinging today;
This is shaping up to be a fun race for the presidency. And before anybody comes back and says Joe doesn’t have to worry about bills please take note that Joe Biden has a maximum net worth of $277,997 which–according to McCain, makes Mr. Biden middle class. It also ranks him as the poorest Senator in the U.S. Senate.
This is in stark contrast to John McCain’s maximum net worth of $45,045,011, (that’s millions) ranking him in the top 10 richest Senators in the U.S. Senate.

Well, i guess if you are keeping score by traditional free market capitalistic Chicago economics school standards Joe was a poor choice for obama. Still think i will go with the poor guys.

Anything is better than having to say Vice President Cheney again. Right Rube?

Steve-O:
So what does net worth have to do with Presidential Qualifications? Seems to me Obama chose a Washington Insider to be his VP to address his lack of experience, not due to his bank account.

Grampy McCain left himself vulnerable to the charges that he owns so much real estate that he can’t keep track of it all, but Sen. Biden is a senior Democrat who voted to authorize Bush’s 2003 Iraq invasion. Perhaps we could hold our standard bearers accountable for pisspoor decisions as easily as we criticise them for marrying into wealth.

Lazarus, wealth means everything and how you got it means even more. It lends itself to someones credentials in regards to how they would approach a certain situation.
In Biden’s instance it tells me he has not been corrupted by his years in Washington. He really is all about public service.
McCain, like others, including Obama have used public life to get rich, at that is fine with me but it’s like I said earlier it’s how they got there.

What a ridiculous debate this is shaping up to be: “You’re richer than I am! No, you’re the wealthy one; I’m just a struggling United States Senator!”

Judging Biden on the issues alone doesn’t endear him to me one iota.
But that said, I don’t want McCains old ass sitting in the Oval office.

So McCain doesn’t know how many homes his rich heiress wife owns. Obama doesn’t know how many states there are in the Union.

Perhaps this tells us that the senator hasn’t managed his personal finances well. After all he has been a senator for 35 years. A great job with great pay and benefits. Wouldn’t you expect that most Americans earning a 6 figure income for 35 years would be worth more than 278K? Hell, a reasonable contribution to a 401k should enable him to have saved more than that.
Do we really want someone who cannot seem to do better with his own finances having anything to do with managing a 10 trillion dollar economy? Doesn’t sound like Senator Biden is all that well versed on the economy. He would after all be only a heartbeat away from the presidency.

He is the friggin VP manapp, not the guy to sit in the Oval office daily.
Besides, as per your usual, you over-simplify it. Biden’s true and complete financial worth might be buried like McCains-in his wife’s income tax returns.

Friggin VP indeed Dusty however as I pointed out he would be but a heartbeat away from all the marbles..
If he is that sneaky as to hide his assets, perhaps there is something to those comparing Biden to Cheney.

Or Biden to McCain…both been in office forevah!
The only heartbeat that needs to be monitored is Johnny McC’s dude.

manapp,
You really don’t want to bring up Bidens management of money do you?
What about comparing McCains campaign debt to Obama’s near nothing campaign debt.
And I think you live in the north east and you know damn well that his salary doesn’t mean shit when you have the amount of kids he has and college and commuting and cost of living.
Maybe he is just an average Joe that does his job and goes home. There is a such thing you know.
