WWJMD (What Would John McCain Do)

September 12th, 2008 | by Cranky Liberal |

Well since John spent part of yesterday telling the world how he would have handled September 11th, let’s remind the world what he DID do when our country faced it’s darkest hour.

How about we talk about what McCain actually did do after 9/11 though? Here he was in January 2002:

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) visited the Roosevelt yesterday and shouted, “Next up: Baghdad!” from the carrier’s bridge.

McCain has been pushing the administration to make Iraq and its dictator, Saddam Hussein, the next targets in the war on terrorism.

Pentagon officials and Powell have cautioned against focusing on Baghdad, but McCain said yesterday that Iraq poses “a clear and present danger” to the U.S.

“I think Iraq is going to have to be considered,” he said.

Yep, there he was already invading the wrong country, at the wrong time for the wrong reason. Judgement, leadership, experience, Bush clone. Says it all folks.

For whatever credit McCain deserves about being right on a tactic (the Surge) he gets repeated marks against him for being wrong on policy. Unfortunately we are electing a President, not Admiral so policy is much more important. We have a military to advise us on tactics and implement them, we need a President with the sound judgement to guide our nations policy so that 4100 US soldiers do not die needlessly again.

Hat Tip to The Jed Report for this.
