“Senator Hothead”

October 8th, 2008 | by Dusty |

From Brave New PAC:

During last night’s debate, John McCain said we need “a cool hand at the tiller,” but McCain has proven to be a loose cannon. He has accosted his Congressional colleagues on both sides of the aisle on everything from the federal budget to diplomatic relations. He is known for hurling profanities rather than settling disagreements calmly. His belligerence is legendary. Even conservative Senator Thad Cochran of Mississippi has said, “He is erratic. He is hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me.”

When someone earns the nickname “Senator Hothead,” the public ought to call his character into question. McCain’s propensity to explode undermines his abilities as a rational decision maker, particularly on national security issues — which could prove disastrous considering our country is already involved in two wars.

McCain’s temper is critical to his decision-making abilities, and his character must be discussed. As Drew Westen writes, “The political brain is an emotional brain. It is not a dispassionate calculating machine, objectively searching for the right facts, figures and policies to make a reasoned decision.” That why it’s so crucial people know the real Senator Hothead.

He isn’t fit to lead our nation…that much is certain in my humble yet vocal opinion.

John is exactly what we need. A cool hand on the tiller but not afraid to kick some butt when the need arises. He has a clear record.

McCain has a record of blasting other senators regarless of party affiliation. I think this is an admiral quality as many in congress deserve to be unleashed on. Look at Barney Frank and his involvment in the financial mess we find ourselves in. He deserves everything Bill O threw at him.
What we need in Washington is a little less of the “we may disagree but in the end we all attend the same parties” mentality and more of the “go fuck yourself Senator Leahy” type of thing. It will make for better T.V. as well.

It’s interesting that you approve of his behavior which is to belittle the individual ala using his bully pulpit manapp. Says alot about you.

Yeah Dusty, when it comes to dealing with douchebags, I say belittle away.
Since most in Washington are douchebags….

Then you have world leaders like the dude in Iran and Nanook of the north in Russia. I think a little belittlement is in order.

I think you used these words recently in a post about the wall street fatcats. Fuck em all.

I feel this way about politicians.

Evidently not all politicians manapp…just the ones you dont like since McSame has been a politician for 26 years. Funny how that works out. ;)

Your in the mold of the Big Dick Cheney..who is the worst piece of shit to ever hold elected office.

On topic, I’d like to throw in that the Senate is a deliberative body. They yank stuff around and mull detail. Being a hot head in the Senate isn’t such a big deal. You can lose your temper, chill out, and readdress the legislation with cooler head.

Face to face with a world leader who doesn’t like your agenda and tells you so to your face calls for an entirely different temperment. Losing your temper or being obviously rude not only screws up that conversation, but quite possibly relations for years. This is not what we expect out of our presidents.

Actually Dusty, when he came up with finance reform he co sponsered with Feingold, I said fuck em. Last night when he offered to buy mortgages and then finance the new lower appraised rate, I said fuck em. The only reason I will vote for him, if I vote, is he is the lessor of two evils. Obama will be a disaster if he lives up to his campaign promises or a liar when he doesn’t. My money is on a laundry list of broken promises. Just another lying ass politician. Like Bill and his promise of Universal health care for all. How did that work out for you?

Let’s get Obama elected and a Democrat congress. They can have it.

    Fuck em all.

Big Dick Cheney. The last of the politicians with balls, as is the case with most big dicks wouldn’t you say. I’ll take him over pussy Reid and Pelosi any day.

This can be like pick up football. My first pick is Cheney. Give em hell big dick.

    man

    cool hand on the tiller

What? Are you stealing slogans from the GOP propaganda machine? Doesn’t The fact that McSame knows what a tiller is make him one of them much despised “elitists?”

Really, there was no substance to McSame’s speechifying last night. Does any one really buy that he’s about change at all?

    Like, Duh….

Don’t you think McCain knows this. Look at Bill Clinton. He showed us he has a temper in the primaries. He was also president. Come on Jet. Do you really really think there is a danger of McCain going to a meeting with Putin and throwing a temper tantrum? I mean really? Sheesh.

On the other side. Don’t you think you want a president to show a little balls when dealing with these guys? We have not seen any kind of ballsyness from Obama. I’m not saying that he cannot muster a little outrage if needed but we have to take that for granted, don’t we.

Idiotic statement Wind. He was in the Navy you know. Are you saying that sailors in the Navy are elitist? Do you think there is a sailor alive that does not know what a tiller is? Or are you saying that the average person is too stupid to know what a tiller is?

Wow you worship Cheney? He has a lower rating than Bush OR the Congress.

    Way to go manapp ;)
