How’s That Again?
October 16th, 2008 | by Jet Netwal |Joe the Plumber is a real person, and according to this McCain supporter, a relative of Charles Keating. Yes, THAT Charles Keating.
I swear, the McCain campaign couldn’t vet a Big Mac out of a paper bag. Do they even talk to each other? Bush doesn’t talk to his advisors either. Obama may not be running against George W Bush, but he sure is running against somebody who walks the walk.

Another point…Joey isn’t showing up on any registered voter rolls in his area either:

I can’t help getting the impression of mass diorganization in the McCain camp. It looks like they are flailing. Sad.

Why would the McCain camp “vet” a person that attended an Obama rally and asked him a question?
Even if Joe were a fictional character his question is clearly relevent and reveals Obama’s plan for redistribution of wealth.

If McCain is planning to use him as a cornerstone of his debate points, then maybe a bit of background check is in order. Apparently some of the McCain people knew about the Keating connection, but that info didn’t get where it should have. If you can’t organize a campaign, why should people think you can build a functioning cabinet?

McCain is not using Joe as a cornerstone of his campaign he is using his question and more importantly Obama’s answer. There can be no denying that Obama stated in his own voice that he wants to spread the wealth. I know that many here agree with that policy so why the attacks on Joe. They should be instead highlighing Obama’s answer.
You either believe in redistribution of wealth or you don’t there are valid points on both side of the argument.
So my question is why attack the messenger?

Mannapp, I’m not picking on Joe, I’m pointing out a communications gaffe by the McCain campaign. I thought I was being fairly clear about that, but apparently not.
For example, if Obama named a voter during a debate and discussed that voter’s needs in relation to McCain’s positions, and it came out after the fact that the voter was Jeremiah Wright’s brother in law, wouldn’t you think the Obama campaign was stupid to do that? Why would the campaign use a voter who is tied to an espisode the campaign does NOT want to highlight? The answer, obviously, it they do not. the campaign screwed up and should have looked into the person more carefully before they pushed a topic they did not want to raise into the national spotlight.
To further clarify, my topic is the boneheaded move by the campaign staff, not the redistribution of wealth.

Whoops, here comes another “Joe the Plumber” for McCain. Better get the vetting team down to Knoxville:
“Joe the Plumber, of Knoxville, that is,”
Snip…
“Still, Joe Shanks, a licensed master plumber and owner of Joe’s Plumbing Service in the Cedar Bluff area, has followed the presidential campaigns the same as his much-quoted counterpart in Toledo, Ohio, who questioned Democratic Sen. Barack Obama over his proposed tax hike for those who make more than $250,000 a year.
Shanks said his business, which he jointly runs with his wife, Catherine, doesn’t earn the couple nearly that much income.”
Snip…
Shanks, an independent voter, said he’s supporting Republican Sen. John McCain, citing the official’s career experience in office as the deciding factor for him.
“I’d just feel more comfortable, confident and safe with McCain,” the plumber said. “McCain’s been there. Obama’s just not that experienced.”
Shanks likened the decision to a homeowner in need of a plumber – would you hire the guy who just got his trade license, he asked, or a seasoned professional?”

I don’t know Jet. Obama did use the misinformation that “kill him” was shouted out at a Palin rally and she did not address it.
This, according to the secret service, has turned out to be false.
SCRANTON – The agent in charge of the Secret Service field office in Scranton said allegations that someone yelled “kill him” when presidential hopeful Barack Obama’s name was mentioned during Tuesday’s Sarah Palin rally are unfounded.
“The Scranton Times-Tribune first reported the alleged incident on its Web site Tuesday and then again in its print edition Wednesday. The first story, written by reporter David Singleton, appeared with allegations that while congressional candidate Chris Hackett was addressing the crowd and mentioned Obama’s name a man in the audience shouted “kill him.”
News organizations including ABC, The Associated Press, The Washington Monthly and MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann reported the claim, with most attributing the allegations to the Times-Tribune story.”

And look at the left wing MSM that jumped on that story without asking the people who would know, the secret service.
Obama used that in the debate to garner the sympathy vote and yet did not vet the story.
He could have simply asked the secret service himself but did not. Or perhaps he did and ran with it anyway. Who knows.

On a video clip covering Palin’s rally, I did indeed hear someone yell “kill him”………
By manapp99 on Oct 17, 2008 | Reply
Linda, provide the clip. Let us be the judges.
I can tell you that if the secret service had of heard anything like that they would have been all over the person yelling that.
They, the secret service are saying that those allegations are “unfounded” Until there is proof to refute the Secret Service I will remain skepticle of your account.
You would think that Obama would vet that story before using it in a debate for a “poor me” moment.
