State Department Condemns Rice Cartoons

And they had this to say about the cartoon, We encourage development of a free press but along with those freedoms come certain responsibilities [emphasis mine],” a State Department spokesman told the Times. “Secretary Rice is focused on doing her job. She knows that the United States is doing the right thing.”

But this is what the State Department said about the cartoons of Allah a few months back, “While we share the offense that Muslims have taken at these images, we at the same time vigorously defend the right of individuals to express points of view [emphasis mine] . . . Freedom of expression is at the core of our democracy, and it is something that we have shed blood and treasure around the world to defend, and we will continue to do so,”

I guess it’s only freedom of the press when you’re making fun of the other guy.

  1. Jacinto Lirola Says :

From an “op ed” piece by then Vice President of the United States, Henry Wallace, published in the New York Times on April 9, 1944 :

“The dangerous American fascist is the man who wants to do in the United States in an American way what Hitler did in Germany in a Prussian way. The American fascist would prefer not to use violence. His method is to poison the channels of public information. With a fascist the problem is never how best to present the truth to the public but how best to use the news to deceive the public into giving the fascist and his group more money or more power.
If we define an American fascist as one who in case of conflict puts money and power ahead of human beings, then there are undoubtedly several million fascists in the United States. There are probably several hundred thousand if we narrow the definition to include only those who in their search for money and power are ruthless and deceitful. Most American fascists are enthusiastically supporting the war effort. They are doing this even in those cases where they hope to have profitable connections with German chemical firms after the war ends. They are patriotic in time of war because it is to their interest to be so, but in time of peace they follow power and the dollar wherever they may lead.”

who said the State Dept has no humor?

  3. Dude In Michigan, USA Says :

War is the oldest game:  Offense, Defense, and Special Teams

Offense = I get to use the press to get what I want

Defense = I will keep you from using the press to get what you want.

Special teams = Work in the shadows to keep you helpless.

Goal of War = I win, You lose

  4. Daithí Says :

The cartoon shown above is NOT racist.

It obvious portrays her pregnant with the Bushling as the personification of the neo-crazies’ “New Middle East”.

The Guardian’s Steve Bell has been portraying Chucklenuts as a monkey or chimpanzee for quite a while now.,,1284265,00.html

Only monkeys should be offended by the comparison!

  5. Steve O Says :

Daithi Exactly!!! That’s what I don’t get, the Chimperor has been portrayed as a monkey from day one and that is not considered racist. Now throw Condi into mix by giving birth to a Chimperor and WAMO – Instant racism!!!

  6. Craig R. Harmon Says :

A black woman is pictured pregnant with a monkey-child. Nope, nothing offensive or racist about that. I can’t imagine any black being offended at such a depiction. Racist White supremicists have depicted blacks as little more than monkeys for centuries now. They should be used to it. I agree. It’s not racist.

  7. curt Says :

The Russians think Rice is an uptight dipshit.

  8. Craig R. Harmon Says :

Of course, there’s nothing inherently offensive about depicting the President of the United States as a monkey, either. People are just so touchy.

  9. Dusty Says :

I do think its tasteless but its good to see the State Dept’s own words tossed back at them. Cartoons are not meant to be tasteful.. they are satire and over-the-top drive-by shots.

  10. Daithí Says :

If you were a monkey, would you want to be compared to Chucklenuts?

  11. Dusty Says :

This Condo cartoon is mild compared to photoshops I have. Like the one I will never get to use of Karl Rove, naked and huddled in a corner of a prison cell as bubba approaches him with his “johnson” in his hand.

I would put it up in a NY minute if Karl ever got indicted/convicted of anything.

  12. Steve O Says :

Now Craig, you hit on something interesting. Half the neo-cons in this country have no clue about what would be found offensive in the Muslim world and vice versa, I can guarantee you that half the Muslim world knows nothing about white supremists portraying black babies as chimps. Sooooo, let me ask you something, if someone publishes something without the knowledge that it would offend someone, is it racism? Is it ignorance?

Is it the Muslims responsibility to be up on our racial strife here in America?

  13. araider Says :

this is the reason political correctness sucks. Everybody in this country is too sensitive about everything. It’s just a cartoon for christ’s sake. someone took a pencil or paint brushes and drew it.

    this isn’t real folks!

  14. Paul Revere Says :

The Emperor has no clothes. (secret CIA code).

  15. Dusty Says :

PC doesnt apply to satire..its ridiculous to try.

As for the hypocrites in the Shrub’s administration they can kiss my semi-brown ass. They talk about bringing democracy to the middle east while they remove it one amendment at a time here at home.

  16. archers Says :

I still like better the cartoon depicting Bush’it as Alferd E. Newmann–Mad Mad Madder then hell.

He really looks like a nerd.Just as Alfred, the only thing missing is the tooth missing. This creep is trying hard in playing–I wanna be a Jew boy–how about a name change–

    Porgie Monkola Bushitmann

  17. Jet Netwal Says :

Hey Steve O, do you know what the Arabic says up in the corner?

  18. Steve O Says :

    It says

“Rice speaks about the birth of a new Middle East,” in reference to the secretary’s recent remarks about the “birth pangs” of the region.

    Doesn’t sound racist to me.

  19. Craig R. Harmon Says :

    Steve O.,

Not at all, man. I’m with you. Nothing offensive about it.

    Just like I said.

Since I’m repeating myself, I think I’ll leave it at that.

  20. Steve O Says :

Sorry Craig, I sensed a bit of sarcasm in your first response. Sorry to make you repeat yourself.

  21. SF resident Says :

Rice learned to abuse the race card from Willie Brown.

[Background on the close relationship of Condi Rice and Willie Brown from a SF Bay Area investigator]

Investigator’s motto: Follow the money, and pay close attention to the relationships.

Condoleezza Rice and former San Francisco mayor Willie Brown are very close. Many even suspect it was Rice that gave Willie Brown the warning not to fly on 9-11. Fortunately, Willie’s big mouth tipped off a lot of folks that the corrupt political elite knew of 9-11 in advance.

Willie Brown’s political playbook contains one classic move: when Brown makes a political move, he moves very quickly, with everything he has. A political blitzkreig of sorts. It almost always succeeds, because the time people figure out his sleazy game, it’s too late to do anything about it. San Franciscans familiar with SF election fraud and stadium ballot scandal are well aware of this.

Rice, another corrupt political elite familiar with Brown’s tactics, knows the play well. And the US and Israel have been hand-in-hand in the war on Islam since the Supremes appointed Bush, going so far as to have Israel’s ambassador to the UN, John Bolten, veto today Qatar’s emergency declaration to the UN Security Council to halt Israel’s war on Lebanon. Note how the US-Israel axis is moving very quickly, with everything they have, against not just Gaza and Lebanon, but desperately trying to implicate Syria and Iran. All this the same day Iran was referred to the UN Security Council; the flurry of recent high-level diplomatic visits with Iraq and Israel; the same dates as the G8 in Russia, members of which all benefit from cheap Arab oil.

It was only a few weeks back in late May that the US-Israel axis announced they had “agreed to the same timetable on Iran” and that “Iran had weeks, not months.” Israel would not wage war on Lebanon without the consent of the US government. Syria and Iran share a mutual defense pact, thus any Israeli attack on Syria would necessarily involve a US attack on Iran. This has all been pre-scripted for your viewing pleasure. Rice is play acting here, Israel knows it, and it’s all part of the sell. The classic good-cop/bad-cop routine. It’s Condi’s turn for the “My Pet Goat” alibi. Everything moving quickly, all at once, so by the time people figure out this sleazy game, it’s too late to do anything about it–we’re into WWIII.

We have Bush’s polls tanking, lawsuits piling up, a Supreme Court ruling unfavorable to Bush. The attempt to get a UN resolution agaist Iran failed, so this is plan B: provoking a war with Iran and Syria by brutalizing its neighbors in Lebanon and Gaza. The neocons are desperate with the approaching elections: they’re rolling all the dice at once, right now. It’s now or never for their sick wet dreams of armageddon and rapture. Do you really think the beginning of a war on Iran and Syria would unfold the same way as Afghanistan and Iraq?

  22. Shodan Says :

the two visible arabic words are “about” and “new”. i guess the rest was cropped.

  23. Dale Lindmark Says :

A “SINGLE” Black Lady is giving birth to the Chimpster

  24. Steve O Says :

Nice catch, I’m surprised the American Taliban are not up in arms about potraying Condi as the Virgin Mary and the Chimperor as the baby Jesus.

I wonder if the artist was being that clever when he jotted this down?

  25. Emmet Says :

I think she should have an abortion!

  26. Steve O Says :

An abortion of a Sec. of State having an abortion of an abortion of a President. Nice.

bring out the morality police, I used abortion three times in one sentence. And I used it as an adjective and a verb, wow, complex!!!

  27. john Says :

is the chimp smiling? or is my monitor playing tricks with me?

  28. Liberal Jarhead Says :

    He’s smirking, John.  Of course.

  29. That Black Guy in the movie Says :

…..I’m black…and I’m not offended.  MONKEYS on the other hand are mad as a mutha fucka!

  30. Steve O Says :

The Black Guy in the movie,

Too funny, aren’t you tired of being killed off all the time? If I were a monkey I’d be offended by being depicted as Bush. Atleast monkey’s can use their opposabal (sp?) thumb.

  31. Paul Merda Says :

    LOL!  Thanks you all…

  32. steve Says :

Reminds of a scene from Clerks 2 (Yeah, I am one of the people that has actually seen it)

  33. Suleiman Says :

“birth pangs of a ‘New Middle East’….The Airabs got raped.

When Condi stood in front of the microphone in Rome, waiting for her turn to speak together with the other ballless politicians ( except for Fouad Sinora) she smirked and smiled and raised her eyebrows as if she was looking at someone kind of wink wink nudge nudge.  She was  thinking of  this  line all the time and  she must have thought it was so funny - ‘ birth pangs of a ‘new middle east my foot.

  34. Sandy Says :

    You are pathetic!

  35. Baine Says :

As a Black guy i dont see what the racist fuss is about. If you cant clearly see whats meant by the cartoon…thanks for helping reinforce the stereotypes your mad at. Plus Condi hasnt been playing for the “blackteam” for a MINUTE. Wake up!

  36. Milan Stranscak Says :

    A hint for the artist:

As Condi is going to have the abovesaid birthpangs for quite a while and her blissful smile is getting broader and brighter with every new proof that US’s morally enriched bombs send to hell only deservedly evil terrorist (sub)souls (a kind of the Reds and the other-colored of the past), I’m sure that she’ll soon be able to produce a 360-degree smile. The (Bush&Blair&Olmert&co.’s) ‘vision’ realized: the NEW Middle East populated only by the godly Jewish race rejoicing at a photo of Condi’s 360-degree smile on every one of those ‘evil’ tombs.

  37. commonsensical Says :

as a black dude…Bush has been long depicted a monkey…that’s where that comes from…it f-in funny to me….LOL

  38. Anaconda Lizard Price Says :

Does she possess the power of being pregnant? I’ve heard that she is suffering from “Sexual Disappointment.” She should be happy that people think her of not being suffered from this “Sexual Disappointment”. People think that she can bear something; whether monkey, but still; she can bear something. Congratulations Rice! People have started thinking positive of you. You need no worry any more about your “Sexual Disappointment.”

  39. Anaconda Lizard Price Says :

    Ha Ha Ha !

    I’ve seen “Men In Black”.

Now I’ve aslo seen “Monkeys In Black”.

  40. dude&dude Says :

Condi’s child will come into this world wrapped in a MD carrying its usual sevenfold meaning:

lie, rob, destroy, vandalize, brutalize, kill & murder.

  41. Leroy Says :

This is the most racist cartoon I ever saw a everyone in my neighbourhood agrees.  Look how the muslims reacted over cartoons a few months back!!!   we should react in same way!!!
